BUILDING LEADERSHIP
All of AMURT-Haiti's community development programs have started and been managed by volunteers and staff both from Haiti and abroad. Many international volunteers have chosen to extend their initial commitments and repeatedly return to the projects they have connected with after their initial experience with us in the NW of Haiti. While continuing to actively draw foreign volunteers AMURT-Haiti increasingly focuses on identifying local community leaders and integrating them in the management of the projects. These local professional staff and foreign volunteers representing 4 continents have a reason to celebrate - their projects have successfully built and equipped schools and clinics, completed irrigation and drinking water systems, planted trees and protected watersheds in one of the poorest and most isolated areas in Haiti.
