The Urban Ecology Program is based at the integrated learning center, Sant Felisite Sineyas, at the IDP camp on Delmas 33. Sant Felisite Sineyas consists of 11 pavilions housing 22 classrooms in addition to 10 composting toilets, 8 rainwater catchment systems, a reservoir, a composting site, a tree nursery, a permaculture demonstration site and organic garden. Two agronomists and three technicians give around the clock support, classes and demonstrations on permaculture design. Toward a Greener Future

In 2011 AMURT completed the final phase of a 5-year Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) initiative targeting the protection of 16 watersheds in Communes Anse Rouge and Terre Neuve. The outcomes include more than a million tree seedlings and 50 million seeds planted since 2005 through community-managed tree nurseries and soil conservation campaigns. Rapid Response for Children after Earthquake

Since the earthquake on January 11, 2010 AMURT-Haiti’s Child Protection program has benefited 4,000 children daily between February and September 2011, preparing them to process the trauma of the earthquake and transition into a normal school year. In September 2010 the program transitioned to expand into after-school academic enrichment for 1,400 additional students age 7 to 12. Preventing Cholera Epidemic

The Northwest Artibonite has one of the highest rates of cholera in the country, hitting especially hard the isolated mountain communities of Anse Rouge and Terre Neuve.
