Let’s go - even more - local!

AMURT-Haiti has been directly implementing its programs in Haiti since 1986. In 2011 upon completing an evaluation and consultation process, we decided to shift our mandate towards accompaniment and capacity building of our implementing partner: LOCAL-Haiti (Local Capacities Alliance). LOCAL-Haiti focuses on three domains of intervention – education and child protection, livelihoods, and environment. > More

Kasek Odford (Local Authority Representative of Anse-Rouge) “ESPRI-Sel is not only about livelihoods, it is about people coming together to initiate a positive transformation in their communities. The immediate impacts in terms of improved production and quality of salt are beyond doubt. ESPRI-Sel builds the capacity of traditional salt producers, while at the same time utilizing empty land and generating revenue for community projects. ESPRI-Sel is about proper utilization of resources, and also about changing our consciousness—not an easy fight, but a fight we shall succeed winning, for it is for the future of our children.

Learn a Haitian Proverb!    Haitian Creole is rich with proverbs (so called Proverb Granmoun) - ex-pressions with a complexity of symbolic meanings. We find great inspiration in one of them as it reflects our vision for a new Haiti - Men anpil, chay pa lou. Joining hands we make the load seem lighter! We believe that cooperative and participative methods are not only the best way to trans-form, but also are deeply integrated in the national psyche.
